You Are Loved!

It doesn't matter who you are, what you have done, or what you are planning to do right now, you are loved and valued by Someone who loves you so much, He was willing to die for you.  Whether you feel like you have the world by the tail and are making a pretty good life for yourself, or if you feel like you are lost and all alone and are wishing you were never born, please know that you can't be good enough, and you can't be bad enough, for this Person to change how He feels about you!  His name is Jesus.  Have you heard of Him?  Even though He was born over 2000 years ago on this earth, Jesus lives today and wants you to know that you are precious to Him and He loves you.  How can Someone who was born over 2000 years ago, live today?  Well, Jesus is the only Son of God.  In other words, He is God.  And when He came to earth, he came as a baby.  That's what Christmas is for - to celebrate the birth of Jesus.  So Jesus, who is God, came to earth as a baby, so we could have a witness to God and God's love for us.  In the Bible, John 3:16 says, "God loved the world (that's us) so much, that He sent His only son (that's Jesus), so that if we will believe in Him, we will not die, but have eternal life."  Why did God do that?  The answer is in the next part (verse).  Because God did not send His Son to condemn us, but to save us.

God loved all of us, including you, SO much that he was willing to have His son come to earth - become like one of us - in order to show us His great love for us, so that we could be "saved."

When we think of being "saved" we think of an event like a car accident or a boating accident where someone needs to be saved from the wreckage or saved from drowning.  In just the same way, all human beings are wrecked and drowning on the inside.  Even if we might look like we're doing okay on the outside, on the inside of us - in our soul - we are separated from God's love because of the sin in our lives.  Sin is anything that we know is not right.  We all know right from wrong, but many of us choose to ignore what is right and if we ignore what is right long enough, we will eventually start to believe that what is wrong, is actually right.  That's the dilemma we find ourselves in.  But God made a way out for us.  He sent Jesus.  Jesus actually was accused of doing wrong but while He was here on earth, He never did anything that was wrong.  In fact, the accusation made against Him, ended up costing Him his life.  He was executed by being hung on a cross to die.  Since Jesus had done no wrong at all, and since He was God's Son, He could have kept Himself from being executed, but that's where the love comes in.  He loved you so much that He was willing to allow Himself to be executed so that we wouldn't have to be.  By dying, Jesus made a way for us to escape from that wreckage of our lives.  He threw us a life raft when we were drowning.

So no matter what your situation is right now, Jesus wants you to know that you are valued and loved by Him.  If you feel hopeless, stop what you're doing right now and go find a Bible and read, or ask someone to read to you, the gospel of John.
